artist statement

From the beginning of my time, I wanted to be an artist. I wanted to make things. I wanted to make things better and beautiful.

I am most interested in people in their environments and in solitude. Our physical being is a manifestation of our soul. I am fascinated with the story each of us has to tell, and I express messages that can be understood universally on a very deep level. I paint from my own life experience and encounters, employing color to enhance the mood and feelings. My figurative images live at the forefront of the canvas, captured in a moment of time.

After going through a series of losses, I came to realize that my art is key to my survival, as well as my healing. My intent is to share this soul work with others. Making art is one way to acknowledge and process feelings, as well to simply enjoy one of life's pleasures-creativity.
